Reduction: Surgery A man is often attractive because of his expressive lips, which arouse on the women the desire to kiss him. The opposite, a man who has thin lips or faded perhaps, has much more difficulties in using them properly. Surgical reduction: A too thick lip may also cause constraint and wish to reduce it. What does this surgery envolve? To increase the lips volume, the market offers several products, like mesofill, PMMA(polimethtlmetaclilate), Restilane, Achyal, etc. The product is implanted with a micro cannula and a syringe. There is the advantage of not taking much time, it can be done just at lunchtime and you return to work after it. On the other hand we think that your own fat is more efficient. It is rich in elastine and collagen, its action lasts for approximately one year, longer than the one of other products (not more than 6 months). The fat auto-implant must be done in a surgical theater. The fat is harvested from the inferior abdomen or from the flanks. It is sucked off, with little trauma, through a cannula and syringe and not with surgical suckers, which would destroy many fatty cells. The fat is prepared before being implanted. This special preparation makes all the difference for the success of the implant. Note: In the case of auto-implant your own fat is used and we know exactly what we are implanting. Using other products, we never know what they really contain. The formula is up to each producer. For surgical reduction of the lips, we make fusiform incisions, cutting off part of the labial mucous membrane. The sutures are made with absorbable thread, so you don’t need to take the stitches off, they will fall alone naturally. What kind of anesthesia is it indicated? Depending on the patient, we can implant products without anesthesia. If the patient is pusillanimous (too sensible) we should better use local anesthesia. The fat implant, both to harvest it and to implant it, is always made with local anesthesia. The surgery of lips reduction should be done under general anesthesia. How long time does it take? If the choice is for products implant,
5 minutes is enough time. If the treatment is to be done with fat implant,
the time spent is approximately one hour. For the surgical reduction, the
mean duration is one hour.
The following information refers both to the reduction and the increase of the lips: There is a severe edema. We use to say that the mouth gets similar to the one of a “biquara”, a Brazilian fish. With the use of ice bags for 10 minutes, 5 times a day, and local massage, the perceptible edema will disappear in approximately 15 days. Any surgery requires one year for the perfect cicatrisation, but in 3 months you can already see how it will look like. You should avoid local trauma and direct exposure to the sun, for the next 30 days. You should use antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory for 7 days. What type of scar will i have and what may go wrong? The marks of the surgery are practically imperceptible, since we make only a 1-2-cm incision to suck the fat off. To implant, there is no incision at all, just an infiltration with needle. Each person has its own cicatrisation. Depending on each patient’s own defenses, it is possible the occurrence of infection. This is rarely seen, because the patient has valuated his health, has made all necessary lab tests, just like it is usually done, before any other surgery. The biggest complaint is the absorption of the product in a short period, in approximately 6 months. In the case of fat, it will be absorbed in approximately one year. NOTHING IS FOREVER. In the case of lips reduction, the scar remains in the mouth, therefore, imperceptible. |
